History Of Kenya

The course will cover, through a mixture of classroom sessions and site visits, the history of the region now known as Kenya, covering :

• Pre-history, early man, bushmen
• Migration of Bantu and Nilotic peoples
• Emergence of tribes, slave trading, Portuguese and Missionaries
• Colonial Period
• Nationalism and Independence
• Modern Day Kenya

Site visits will include the Kitale Museum, the Treasures of Africa Museum also in Kitale, and the Heroes Cells in Kapenguria where Jomo Kenyatta and five others were tried and found guilty of membership of the Mau Mau and sentenced to terms of imprisonment.
